They say – Old Pulteney 21 Year Old

There are few things we love more than getting in front of thirsty whisky fans and presenting to them our pride and joy – Old Pulteney 21 Year Old.

We could talk about it all night long. With its combination of unmistakable distillery fingerprint and generous helpings of lush, oaky maturity we find it a rather special dram to discuss and, of course, savour. But while we just can't seem to stop talking about it, we thought we'd give you a small selection of quotes about Old Pulteney 21 Year Old from whisky commentators, ranging from famous writers to little-known but excellent bloggers. After all you shouldn't just take our word for it.

“I first went to Pulteney nearly 25 years ago and I have never known them to produce anything other than top rate malt.”

“The 21-year old Old Pulteney absolutely exploded from the glass with vitality, charisma and class.”

Jim Murray, Whisky Bible 2012

“Beautiful lemony and peppery profile, perfect balance, good oomph, some salt, some wax, a little mint, seashells… Great!”

Serge Valentin, WhiskyFun

“The dried fruitiness from the nose is also present, with notes of sultana particularly evident, along with further elements of almonds, vanilla, burnt sugar and a hint of saltiness that cuts through the richness to give balance. (...) This is a lovely whisky and one that deserves to be in the spotlight.”

Matt Chambers & Karen Taylor, Whisky for Everyone

“A fabulous nose and much richer and more rounded than the 17 Year Old, the sherry casks adding depth and sophistication. The extra maturing years show to giving that 'old wood' smell with linseed and a slight floral fragrance too. (...) Another beautifully smooth mouth feel, richer well seasoned wood, waxy honeycomb, caramelised pineapple, with a touch of liquorice at the very end.”

Dave Worthington, Whisky Discovery

“It offers an insight into just how much good-quality wood can do for a whisky. A heavy, rich and satisfying dram.”

Lukasz Dynowiak, 1001 Whiskies You Must Try Before You Die

“The more you drink this the more it reveals subtle flavours and elements which all swirl over the tongue effortlessly.”

Barry Bradford, The Whiskyphiles

“A real surprise with that Fino influence but it's good, very good!”

Keith Wood, Whisky Emporium
