In honour of the Highland Whisky Festival, we are opening our distillery doors for whisky lovers to explore our home on the Caithness Coast.

On Friday the 22nd of September, three unique Old Pulteney distillery experiences will take place, marking the beginning of this beloved festival.

Since 1826, Old Pulteney’s superior single malts have been influenced by the brisk, North Sea air that sweeps across its maturing casks at our home in Wick, in northernmost Scotland. Each of the tours will be available exclusively on the first day of the 2023 Highland Whisky Festival, a nine-day celebration that spotlights Highland distilleries.

Ranging from £30 to £175 per person, the three whisky experiences will reveal every stage of Old Pulteney’s renowned distillation processes, commencing with the first drop of water from Loch Hempriggs and concluding with our final glimmering dram.

The Distillery Exclusive Tour – £30

An introduction to Old Pulteney at The Highland Whisky Festival 2023.

This fascinating introduction to Old Pulteney follows the journey of our single malt – from our water source at Loch Hempriggs to your glass. You’ll see how our processes and coastal location shape our whisky, as it changes over time to become the world-famous Maritime Malt.

Of course, a trip to our distillery wouldn’t be complete without a warming dram, or 3!  You’ll have the chance to try our famous Old Pulteney 12 Years Old, the limited edition Pineau des Charentes, concluding with our Distillery Exclusive French Oak Single Malt.

Finally, you’ll receive a complimentary Glencairn glass.

The Festival Fleet – £100

The Ultimate Old Pulteney Experience at The Highland Whisky Festival 2023.

Our experienced tour guide will give you a full insight into the production process at Pulteney Distillery, discovering the journey of our single malt from our water source to your glass.

Our guide will then navigate you through a whisky-tasting adventure. You will sample our famous 12 Years Old along with our Distillery Exclusive, the limited edition Pineau des Charentes, hand-selected Bourbon and Sherry Single Casks, concluding with the deeply warming Old Pulteney 25 Years Old.

Finally, you’ll receive a complimentary Old Pulteney crystal malt blender glass to take home.

The Malt Master Experience – £175

The Ultimate VIP Malt Master Experience at The Highland Whisky Festival 2023.

Join Malcolm Waring, Pulteney Distillery Manager for a once in a lifetime, intimate whisky tasting. Hosted in a private warehouse not open to the public, you will learn about the history of Pulteney Distillery and our whiskies from the man behind them.

Malcolm will navigate you through an intimate masterclass of his favourite whiskies including Old Pulteney Distillery Exclusive, 15 Years Old, 18 Years Old, and the exquisite 25 Years Old. The tasting will then conclude with some very special whiskies including a hand-selected Bourbon Single Cask, Sherry Single Cask, and finally a dram chosen from Malcolm’s very own collection.

Finally, you’ll receive a complimentary Old Pulteney crystal malt blender glass to cherish.
