Noss Head

Matured in American Oak ex-bourbon casks, this Old Pulteney single malt has a full bodied, sweet and spicy taste and a long-lasting finish. Inspired by Noss Head lighthouse, expect some subtle maritime notes.

Situated near Wick Caithness Head, the name Noss Head originates from the Old Norse word ‘Snos’ meaning a nose, the peak of a nose-shaped headland. Completed in 1849 by Robert Arnot of Inverness, the light was first exhibited on the 18th June 1849. A new style of lantern with diagnol instead of a vertical framing was first used by Stevenson at Noss Head. Stronger and less liable to intercept light in any particular direction it was adopted as standard pattern for the service. The lens which is approximately 6ft in diameter rotates by clockwork machinery around a mercury vapour lamp.
