The Coastal Series comprises of limited-edition whiskies that have been further matured in casks that are found close to the sea. Each expression has been crafted to bring Old Pulteney drinkers on a voyage of exploration, partnering with spirits makers from around the world and further maturing our much-loved whisky in a specialist selection of casks.
Our first expression is an exceptional limited edition single malt, further matured in ex-Pineau des Charentes. Further matured in oak casks that previously held this iconic sweet fortified French wine, it’s a new take on Old Pulteney that has to be experienced.
Each cask in our Coastal Series breathes sea air, leaving traces of its own distinctive maritime location. Old Pulteney Pineau des Charentes is created by maturing our spirit by the Caithness Coast in American oak casks, then transferring them to ex-Pineau des Charentes casks, handcrafted using French oak.
The result is a sweet, rich single malt that celebrates a shared coastal connection – bursting with flavours of dried fruits and a subtle saltiness that’s shaped by the sea.
Old Pulteney Port is the second expression in The Coastal Series. Matured in both Ruby Port Pipes and Ruby Port Barriques, which once held an iconic sweet, red, fortified wine native to the Douro Valley of northern Portugal. The sweet flavours of the wine pair perfectly with the briny notes The Maritime Malt is known for.
