#OldPulteneyTBT – Clipper Round the World Yacht Race 2013/2014

We’re looking at an epic journey this #OldPulteneyTBT. Join us as we take a look back to the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race 2013/2014.

Always staying true to our maritime heritage, this #throwbackThursday we are revisiting a truly epic journey, one which went around the world – a record breaking 40,000 nautical mile journey completed on a 70-foot ocean racing yacht. An embodiment of the Maritime Malt, the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race 2013/2014 was full of adventure, bravery and camaraderie and we were truly humbled to be a part of it.

Taking part in the race would have been enough, but, our team worked hard and were rewarded for their efforts when they won a number of races including the coveted Ocean Spirit award. We welcomed our team at every major port, with open arms and drams of Old Pulteney, a welcome which was always greatly received. And, although we weren’t on board ourselves (someone had to stay home to make our whisky) the camaraderie was always flowing whether we were celebrating and catching up on land or when the team were at sea. The 11-month journey was tough at times, but, the crew look back with fond memories, as do we.

To mark the voyage and to pay tribute to the remarkable Clipper team, a limited edition release Clipper Commemorative Bottle was launched. Crafted under the expert eye of our distillery manager, Malcolm Warring (we told you we were at home making whisky!) this limited edition whisky has unmistakable salty coastal notes. On arrival back in London, our extraordinary crew were gifted with bottles of Old Pulteney as they celebrated with friends and family – what a fantastic journey!
