The spirit of Old Pulteney is inseparable from the spirit of the town it calls home - Wick.
Summer is upon us, and for Pulteney Distillery (and indeed many other distilleries in the whisky industry) that means one thing, silent season*. During this time we focus on essential maintenance work around the distillery, and as a result, production is limited. However, while some areas may be restricted our visitor centre remains open, and we’d still love to show you around when it’s safe to do so, so why not get in touch to find out more about our summer availability by calling 01955 602371.
*Our silent season begins the week commencing the 26th of June until the week commencing the 28th of August.
Wick was once known as the herring capital of Europe. Yet while the herring shoals may be long gone from this rugged northern coastline, the spirit of that seafaring past lives on in the form of Old Pulteney Single Malt Scotch Whisky - long renowned as The Maritime Malt.
With a history stretching back to 1826, Pulteney Distillery lies at the heart of its Wick hometown. One of Scotland’s most northerly mainland distilleries, it has been characterised by a spirit of endurance down the centuries - a spirit embodied by the unique malt whisky with which it has been so long synonymous.
The enduring and ever-growing popularity of Old Pulteney Single Malt Scotch Whisky is testimony to the team who bring it to life. Led by Distillery Manager Malcolm Waring, their invaluable experience is reflected by the energy, pride and passion with which they go about their work.
To step inside Pulteney Distillery is to be at once aware of its captivating heritage and personality - and there’s no better way of getting to know it better than by joining one of our behind-the-scenes tours.
